Race Description
April is Autism awareness month. Help us spread awareness by participating in our fun run where you are challenged to log as many kilometers as possible from April 6th - April 24th. Participate at your own pace at your own time and rack up those kilometers to show the world that we are going the distance to raise awareness for Autism.
A prizegiving ceremony will be held on the 25th of April 2026 where winners will be announced. On this day we will host a panel of experts to explain exactly what autism is and to answer questions surrounding autism.
Autism Awareness is more than just recognising a condition—it’s about fostering understanding, compassion, and inclusion within our communities. This event is dedicated to educating individuals about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping to demystify what autism is, and creating a more supportive environment for those who experience it.
Autism is a developmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts, and perceives the world. It exists on a spectrum, meaning each individual has unique strengths, challenges, and ways of experiencing life. While some individuals with autism may require significant support in their daily lives, others live independently and contribute in diverse and meaningful ways to society.
Through this event, we aim to highlight the everyday realities faced by individuals with autism and their families. These can include difficulties with social interaction, sensory sensitivities, communication barriers, and navigating environments that are not always designed with neurodiversity in mind. By sharing these experiences, we hope to build empathy and reduce stigma.
Education is at the heart of this initiative. We strive to provide clear, accessible information for those unfamiliar with autism, addressing common misconceptions and encouraging respectful, informed conversations. By increasing awareness, we empower communities to move beyond tolerance toward genuine acceptance and inclusion.
Ultimately, this event is a call to action—for individuals, schools, workplaces, and communities to embrace neurodiversity, create inclusive spaces, and support people with autism in reaching their full potential. Together, we can build a world where differences are not just accepted, but celebrated.
